Nearly 30 students fell ill with symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting at the All India Institute of Medical Sceinces (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, in the last three days.
According to information from management, symptoms began on Thursday (3/6) and Friday (3/7) in college students. The administration issued a press release on Monday saying there have been no new cases since March 8 and that all students are stable and have recovered. The cause is still unclear.
The management stopped the water supply to the affected block for one day last week and restored it after carrying out the necessary checks. The authorities believe that it could be either contamination of the water in the reservoir of the particular block or external food. The incident was reported after Holi celebrations.
Forty stool samples were sent to hospital for testing to confirm if it was diarrhoea, and the reports came back positive on Monday evening.
