All students are safe at Kadapa Gurukul School after illness, official says

Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS) Secretary B. Lavanya Veni on Saturday reacted to the incident in which students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Gurukul at Tondur in Kadapa district.

Seeking details of the incident from officials, she said the department responded immediately after learning that several students at the boarding school had reportedly fallen ill with vomiting and diarrhea. The students were admitted to the hospital and given specialized treatment under the supervision of the District Medical Officer of Health (DMHO), she said. She added that all students are currently in good health.

Ms. Lavanya Veni said that the District Coordinator (DCO) Kadapa APSWREIS was continuously monitoring the health of the students at the hospital and assured that a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted into the incident and appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible.

The official warned that any negligence towards students or dereliction of duty by the staff working in welfare hostels and Ambedkar Gurukul schools will not be tolerated.
