The Bengaluru South City Corporation held a review meeting on Friday to prepare for the New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebrations.
Additional Commissioner Naveen Kumar Raju directed all departments to work closely with the city police. He also directed the creation of a WhatsApp group with representatives from all relevant departments to coordinate efforts.
Koramangala and JP Nagar especially see high footfall during NYE in South Corporation limits.
He directed Bescom officials to ensure that all street lights in and around Koramangala and JP Nagar pubs are fully functional and that there is uninterrupted power supply at public places during New Year’s Eve. He said temporary lighting must be installed immediately in poorly lit areas.
While the police have earmarked 10 beds at St. John’s Hospital, beds will also be reserved in Jayanagar Government Hospital. A total of six to seven teams consisting of doctors, nurses and ambulances will be deployed in the areas designated by the police.
Mr. Raju instructed the solid waste management department to expeditiously clear the garbage generated during the celebrations, including fragments of firecrackers, liquor bottles thrown in public areas and other waste materials.
To avoid accidents during New Year’s Eve, officials have been instructed to install mandatory signboards at all ongoing works of municipal corporations in and around Koramangala and JP Nagar and to repair all bad pavements immediately.
