Most of the accused, in the case of the murder of a father in Murshidabad, were the locals of the victims and their family, a high -ranking police officer, Western Bengal said on Tuesday (May 13, 2025).
On Tuesday, the police carried out the West Bengal 13. Arrests in connection with the murder of Jafrabad. The accused, Yusuf Sheikh, is a resident in the village of dighri in the same area. He was arrested from the nearby area of the Suti Police Station.

A month back, April 12, Duo of Father-Syn Harogobind Das and Chandan Das were pulled out of their home in Jafrabad at the Samsherganj police station in Murshidabad and brutally murdered in communal violence, the West Bengal said.
In addition, April 11 and 12 April, real estate and vehicles were also ignited and vandalized in this area protesting against the recently approved WAQF Act (amendment), 2025, forcing many inhabitants of the Dhulian community of Samsherganj and escaping to escape.
Police officer of West Bengal added on Tuesday that all 13 accused who have so far been detained in connection with murder are the local inhabitants of this area, most of them aged 35 or less.
About two of them were arrested from Odisha, three were arrested from Jharkand and the rest were arrested from different parts of West Bengal.
“The devoted family identified six people, four of whom were appointed in the first information report. However, they could know more, but they could not register their identity at the moment because of the traumatic nature of the crime,” the officer said.
The defendants wore sticks and swords during violence, he added. The police officer said the offensive weapon used in the murder was a criminal weapon similar to a sword that had a sharp bend of 90 degrees towards the top. The alleged murder weapon has already been restored by the police.
More suspects are currently in the judiciary, while recently arrested are in custody of the police.
“The first arrest was carried out on April 15. All accused were accused of murder, but the police prayed to the court to add other parts of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit, especially the crowd -related section,” the policeman said.
