US President Donald Trump wrote a post on social media calling on key state governors and “every Democratic governor and mayor in the United States of America to formally work with the Trump administration” to enforce the nation’s laws.
In a four-point statement, Trump said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Frey “should turn over all criminal illegal aliens currently incarcerated in their state prisons and jails to federal authorities, along with all illegal felons with active warrants or a known criminal history, for immediate deportation.”
He added, “State and local law enforcement agencies must agree to surrender all illegal aliens arrested by local police.”
“Local police must assist federal law enforcement in arresting and detaining illegal aliens who are wanted for crimes,” Trump said.
“Democratic politicians must work with the federal government to protect American citizens while quickly removing all criminal illegal aliens from our country. Some Democrats, in places like Memphis, Tennessee or Washington, DC, have done so, resulting in safer streets for ALL,” he added.
Trump also called on the United States Congress to immediately pass legislation to end “Sanctuary Cities, which is the root cause of all these problems.”
“America’s cities should ONLY be safe havens for law-abiding American citizens, not illegal alien criminals who have broken our nation’s laws,” Trump said.
“All of these requirements are rooted in COMMON SENSE and will provide the best possible circumstances to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said.
He said the Trump administration is standing by and waiting for every Democrat to do the right thing and “work with us on these important matters to SECURE AMERICA, as we do in all parts of our country where we participate and engage with local leadership.”
In another TRUTH social media post, Trump said, “Minnesota is a criminal COVER-UP for a massive financial fraud that continues!”
Minnesota shooting
Trump’s statement came a day after US citizen Alex Pretti was killed in the fatal shooting of a federal immigration officer. This was reported weeks after Rene Good was killed, sparking widespread protests.
“Tragically, two American citizens lost their lives as a result of the chaos that followed this Democrat,” Trump wrote on his Truth social network.
Trump’s refusal to back down on his promise to carry out the largest deportation program in history and the surge of immigration officials in heavily Democratic cities came as more Republicans began calling for a deeper investigation and expressing concern about some of the administration’s tactics.
Instead, Trump said Sunday night that he would urge Congress to pass legislation banning so-called sanctuary cities. Among other things, his administration sought to apply the designation to communities based on their cooperation with federal immigration enforcement efforts.
