Following the blast near Red Fort in Delhi, the Mysuru City Police has tightened security in the city as a safety and precautionary measure.
A total of 10 check posts have been set up at the entry and exit points of Mysuru. Armed police, civilian police and traffic personnel were deployed to check vehicles and verify the identity of people entering the city.
Security has been tightened at Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hill Temple and the Exhibition Grounds. Additional door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) and separate frisking points for men and women have been installed to ensure security, a press release from the police commissioner’s office said.
Bus stands, railway stations, bus depots, shopping complexes and malls are subjected to frequent anti-sabotage (AS) checks to detect any suspicious objects or activities.
All hotels, lodges, homestays and hostels within the boundaries of the city police are inspected. Details of new residents are verified and the purpose of their visit cross-checked.
The monitoring of social networks was strengthened. Defamatory posts are being monitored and police have warned of strict action against individuals who post such posts. “These security measures are precautionary and are implemented to protect the city from any unforeseen incidents and maintain peace in the city.
