
In the renewed pressure to improve the literacy of adults in Andhra Pradesh, district collector Eluru K. Vetri Selvi on Wednesday (July 9) called all parties to participate in the government’s flagship Ullas – Akshara Andhra. The aim of 97 200 adults over 2025–26 this initiative focuses on inclusive structured training throughout the district.
Mrs. Vetri Selvi, who dealt with a meeting on collector bungalow, emphasized the past success of the district in the program that last year won ELURA second place in the state. She said that the district identified 3.16 illiterate scraping aged 15-59 years to survey Kasta 2023.
The collector emphasized the importance of interdepartmental coordination and ordered officials to make a comprehensive action plan to ensure that Eluru is at the top of the state in the literacy ranking. As part of the campaign, each group of ten students will be led by a trained voluntary teacher. Training programs for volunteers and resources will take place from 21 July to 6 August, followed by 100 hours of teaching focused on financial, digital and functional literacy, with the final evaluation scheduled for March.
The nodal officer of KVV Satyanarayana noted that last year there were 7,286 women from the DWCRA groups in 27 mandals successfully literate. Higher officials from Drda, ZP, Education, Panchayati Raj, ICDS and Mepma took part in the meeting.
