Akash Anand, who needs more political maturity, will not be given key party roles, says BSP chief Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday (September 3, 2026) said that her nephew and party national coordinator Akash Anand needs to be more politically mature and decided not to give him any more responsibility in the party.

“I have allowed Akash Anand to work in the party which is ahead of you all but he still needs to mature. Until then it would not be appropriate to give him a lot of responsibility in the party,” the BSP chief said while addressing a state meeting of party officials in Lucknow.

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also announced that her party will fight alone in all elections across the country, big or small.

Ms Mayawati called the Congress “vehemently anti-Dalit and anti-Ambedkar” and alleged that the opposition parties were involved in “misleading and misleading” Dalits and other sections of Bahujan society. She accused them of “favoring some Dalit groups and misleading people by making baseless claims and spreading false propaganda”.

She also described demonstrations and road blockades as political and electoral tricks. “BSP is the only Ambedkarite party in the country which is free from such political and electoral gimmicks. It is committed to the welfare and well-being of the entire society, especially the poor, the labourers, the exploited, the downtrodden and the neglected. The development achieved by the BSP-led government in Uttar Pradesh is a living proof of this,” she said for four terms.
