The District Committee of the ALL India United Onsion Center (AIUTUC) welcomed the state government announcement increasing daily and monthly minimum wages for workers in various sectors and skills categories.
The press statement issued by the Secretary of the Mysuru Aiutuc ChandraShekhar Meti said that the revised wage rates would provide relief to the families of workers, employees and other workers in the state at a time when they are trying to meet the goals.
He said that the government’s decision to revise the minimum wage was now the result of the persistent effort of AIUTUC and other trade unions to meet the long -term demand of workers.
He said that their demand for a minimum wages at 35,950 GBP per month was based on a realistic study and in accordance with the standards set by the Supreme Court in the case of M. Reptakos Brett & Co., which connects wages with life costs for workers.
Mr Meti, however, pointed out that there were several shortcomings in the classification of zonal workers. “The notification lacks provisions on the contribution to the variable dear (VDA), the revision has not been used since 2022 (when the last revision was due) and delayed the revision of wages for many key sectors,” he said.
Aiutuc said he would submit a formal letter to the Government and the Ministry of Labor to address these questions in the notification.
“Therefore, the Aiutuc Mysur District Committee requires the government to use its power under the Minimum Wage Act to maintain wage rates listed in this announcement, and at the same time incorporate the changes to the workers that our Union caused.
