New Delhi: The actor Bollywood Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned to the High Court in Delhi and was looking for the protection of her personality rights and claimed that dishonest sites used her name and image without permission.
The petition, filed against Aishwaryaworld.com and other violators, claimed that the unauthorized use of her personality is part of a wider trend of online fraud using celebrities.
The hearing was interrupted to January, but the court is likely to impose interim tributaries against the violators. The justice Tejas Karia said that a detailed written order will be issued by limiting violations and protection of RAI rights.
“There are only 151 URLs that will be part of the order in terms of you, we will pass the commands against each of the defendants because prayers are wide.
Rai’s request is looking for court orders to block the web and other perpetrators, eliminate URL violations and instructions for intermediaries such as Google and YouTube to remove unlawful content.
She also asked Liberty to expand the order to the defendant “John Doe” – unidentified parties that may host similar material for violations in the future.
“John Doe” is a type of court order issued against unknown or unidentified parties. In the case of intellectual property and personality, the celebrity, brand or copyright holder allows not only known violators, but also future or unidentified perpetrators who can abuse their name, image or content.

Rai’s advocate Sandeep Sethi told the court that Aishwaryaworld.com falsely declares that her “only authorized and official website” is without permission.
Sethi said the platform has published personal data, unauthorized images, and even selling goods such as T -shirts £3 100 and mugs representing its appearance and create a misleading impression of confirmation.
Sethi also said that Rai’s image was used in fraudulent schemes, including the so -called “Fund for the rich fund”, which placed her photography on his heading and appointed her chairman to get money. The letters were allegedly distributed on their name for storing third parties, although it had no connection with the entity.
Rai’s leading advisor also pointed to morphic and pornographic content generated by artificial intelligence in which its form was covered. Screenshots of fictional chat messages and manipulated images that show it in inappropriate ways were submitted to the court.
Sethi called it a “derogatory, slander and direct attack” on Rai’s dignity.

Lawyers stressed that Deepfakes generated by AI represent a new dimension of risk for celebrities, violate privacy and cause reputation and financial harm.
Rai’s step reflects the growing trend of celebrities that turn to the courts to ensure their rights of identities.
Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff protected the earlier decision of the Delhi High Court in similar cases. In these decisions, the court limited the abuse of celebrities, votes and images and recognized personality rights within the fundamental right to dignity and privacy pursuant to Article 21 of the Constitution.
Last year, the Delhi High Court banned the unauthorized use of Sobriquets “Jackie” and “Jagg Dada” and his phrase “Bhida”.
Similarly, in 2023 the court protected the iconic “Jhakaas” Anil Kapoor. In both cases, commercial exploitation of their names, votes and images was prohibited without consent.
Personality rights allow individuals to protect their identity in connection with privacy and ownership rights.
This applies to celebrities to their names, pictures or voices and prevents unauthorized commercial use. Although India does not have a separate law on personality rights, the Supreme Court and the Supreme Courts recognize them according to Article 21.
Legal experts have previously said Mint that while personality rights are essential in the protection of celebrities from fraud and pretending, recovery of a break can raise concerns for content creators, especially in areas such as mimicry and satire.
