Thousands of Airtel users throughout India are allegedly experiencing significant disruptions in the mobile internet, calls and broadband services, while the outage reports reached a peak around 20:30 on Monday. According to the data from the DownDetector failure platform, this problem is widespread and affects cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Thrissur and parts of the National City Region.
According to the tracking website, most users reported approximately 66 % of the mobile signal loss. Another 21 percent have encountered problems with making or receiving calls, while 13 percent are facing mobile Internet outages, according to DownDetctor user messages.
Despite the scope of the alleged disturbance, Airtel must still issue a formal statement explaining the cause of the outage or indicate when normal services will restore. Meanwhile, customers are advised to use an open network portal to report problems or search for updates.
The outage caused a wave of frustration on social media, where users expressed their concerns about losing connectivity and its impact on everyday life-including disruption of digital payments and UPI transactions.
“It’s been more than two hours and the network is still down. Airtel quickly reminds us of voltage dates, but where is the same urgency when the service fails?” One user published on X. Another user complained: “No one can contact anyone, Wi-Fi is still decreasing more than 20 times a day. The worst service.
In Chennai, several users emphasized how the outage disrupted routine online transactions. “Airtel Down. Since UPI is widely used for payments, this network problem seriously affects everyday life,” the user wrote, adding that this is not the first time the service has unexpectedly reduced in recent weeks.
Complaints are governed by similar incidents that were reported last month, when users in South Chennai parts have experienced broadband disruptions lasting several days.
From now on, there is no estimated resolution time and the handles of Airtel customer services have been flooded with reports that seek clarity.
