On Saturday, July 12, a preliminary report of Air India Flight AI171 was published. Was it a deadly accident result in a technical problem? Was it a problem of software? Or was it a human mistake? Here’s what we can conclude from the report of the Air Investigation Office (AAIB):
While the preliminary report on the accident describes in detail the situation in the seconds of the cockpit before the fall of the Ahmedabad aircraft, the exact cause of the aircraft crash remains unknown. Investigators, however, claim that there are two main roads with the preliminary report on Air India 171.

1. Cutting the engine fuel
Air India tied to London experienced seconds of “cut off fuels” after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of International Airport (VAAH) 12 June.
The transition to “cut-off” is a movement that is usually done only after landing.
The message revealed that both engine fuel switches were moving from running to cut off in seconds from the take -off, suddenly cut the aircraft’s draft at 180 nodes.
He said “The aircraft achieved the maximum recorded flight speed of 180 nodes IAS at about 08:08:42 UTC and immediately afterwards fuel switches 1 and engine 2 moved from running to position for the second time with a time gap of 01 seconds.”

“The N1 and N2 engine began to decrease from their take -off values when the fuel supply was interrupted to the engines,” the report added.
Flight data indicated that the pilots re -connected fuel switches in an effort to re -modify both engines. Motor 1 showed signs of dragging regeneration, but the engine 2 failed to stabilize.
The plane that briefly reached the speed of 180 knots has descended and failed to regain altitude. “The aircraft began to lose altitude before it exceeded the perimeter wall of the airport,” the report said.

2. Fuel lock mechanism
Secondly, preliminary findings refer to the 2018 Federal Aviation Bulletin Bulletin Bulletin operators to the possible release of the fuel switch blocking mechanism.
However, there is no clear explanation of how this mechanical problem could cause both switches almost simultaneously reversing, the BBC reported.
The bulletin was “counseling and was not compulsory” and therefore the inspection of Air India was skipped. The last maintenance of the airlines included compensation for the throttle module in 2019 and 2023.

“However, the reason for the compensation was not associated with the fuel switch,” the report said.
Until further investigation is done whether it was a human error or a rare mechanical disorder, the cause remains unresolved.
3 .. no hit bird, sabotage
AAIB report said that “no significant birds’ activity was observed near the flight path.
Ahmedabad Air India’s accident report revealed: Key points
1. The pilot confusion
According to the voice record of the cockpit, the pilot denied the cutting of the fuel. One pilot was heard and asked, “Why did you go?” The other one replied, “I did not do so,” he suggested a potential technical disorder or unintentional activation, The Times of India reported.

2. Smoked rats
The CCTV shots from the airport showed that the Air Air Air turbine (RAT) was deployed immediately after the initial climb.
RAM air turbine (rat) is a small turbine that is installed on the plane and is used as an alternative or emergency hydraulic or electrical energy source.

According to reports, the rat is deployed from its stored position when the aircraft experiences engine failure or loss of electricity.
The AIBB report stated that the “values of the N2 of both engines” underwent “minimum idle speed” and the rat hydraulic pump began to supply hydraulic energy around 08:08:47 UTC.
