Air India Flying Crash: The US Federal Agency, the National Transport Safety Council (NTSB), responsible for investigating air accidents and major traffic events in the country, on Friday (local time) released a strong reprimand of recent media coverage last month.
NTSB chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, who called media reports “prematurely and speculative”, called on the public and the media to wait for the official finding of the Air accident investigation (AAIB), which leads the probe into the incident of the accident before a preliminary investigation report.

“Recent media reports on Air India 171 are premature and speculative. The Indian Air Investigation Office has just published its preliminary report. The investigation of this size requires time. We fully support the public appeal of AAIB, which was published on Thursday.
This came after Aaib’s public appeal issued on Thursday and noted a strong call for the public and the media and raised concerns about the “selective and unverified report” by certain international stores after the accident.
What AAIB said
The AAIB under the Ministry of Civil Aviation has reaffirmed that the investigation of the Air India accident is carried out “strict and pro -professional in accordance with AAIB rules and international protocols”.
The Bureau warned that the significant nature of the tragedy “pointed out the public and shock”, but emphasized:
The appeal came in an increase in global control after reports in the international media.
What the American media reported
The Wall Street Journal report, quoted by Reuters, suggests that the cockpit voice recordings indicate that the captain could turn off the fuel control switches shortly after takeoff, causing confusion and panic in the cockpit.
AAIB warned against drawing premature conclusions or circulating unverified information, especially according to parts of international media, which, according to them, risked undermining the integrity of the investigation.

“It is necessary to respect the sensitivity of the loss facing the family members of the deceased passengers, the aircraft crew and other deceased people on Earth. It was attention that some parts of the international media were repeatedly attempting to draw conclusions with selective and unverified reports.
The Bureau reiterated that the aim of her investigation and preliminary report is to state “what happened”.
He explained that at this stage “it is too early to reach any certain conclusions” and the final report will only be published after the investigation, including the identification of “causes and recommendations”.
The purpose of the AAIB investigation and preliminary report is to provide information about “what”. In this light, a preliminary message must be seen. At this stage, it is too early to achieve any certain conclusions. AAIB survey is still ongoing. The final report on the investigation will be published with root causes and recommendations, a letter read.
AAIB called on all participants to wait for the final investigation report to be published after completion of the investigation. AAIB will also publish updates as needed, which are technical and public interest, AAIB appeals.
