A high -level meeting convened by the main Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the participated representatives of Air India Express (AIE) decided to restore most of the downloaded flights from the state to popular international routes on Monday. At a meeting, AIE officials said most of the downloaded services would be restored in the winter schedule itself.
The meeting was convened in the chamber of the main minister in the background in the Cut in Flight Services AIE in the winter schedule from October to March 2026. The number of flights from Kozhikode and Kochi was also reduced, while many Kerala flights are diverted to other airports, many of which are privately owned.
“Reducing services at a time when demand is the highest is unjustifiable. The state that has more than 2.5 million compatriots in the Gulf of Persian is significantly influenced by the reduction of the service,” the main minister said. He said that the canceled flights from Kannura, Kozhikode and Kochi should be renewed and that Ai, as a national airline with roots in Kerala, should not be discriminated against by the state. The main minister also proposed a consulting mechanism with the state government so that millions of expats are not considered unilaterally.
New services
Air India officials said the number of schedules was changed with regard to the high demand in the North Indian countries during the winter. Until 2026, the number of international services in Kerala will increase to 231 and the number of domestic services to 245. It is expected to replace the deficiency in winter. New services Fujairah, Medina, Mali, Singapore, London and Bangkok will begin. Australia-Japons will also be considered through Bengalur or Singapore. Other flights will be pushed in the Gulf region during the seasons such as Onam, Christmas and New Year. In addition, the flight of the trade class will be considered between Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi, airlines said.
Another Chief Secretary of KR Jyothilal had the task of solving problems related to Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur with airport authorities. On Tuesday, Kochi will be discussed with Kannura Airport Authorities. Problems related to Thiruvananthapuram Airport will be warned of airport management.
