An Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru was diverted to Bhopal after a suspected technical problem was detected mid-air, the airline said on Tuesday.
The aircraft, operating as flight AI2487, has landed safely in Bhopal, where it is undergoing preventive checks, which are expected to take some time to rectify, an airline spokeswoman said.
“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen situation. Our ground team in Bhopal is providing immediate assistance and support to passengers. We are making every effort to get passengers to their destination as soon as possible,” the spokeswoman added.
The airline reiterated that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remains its top priority.
Meanwhile, an Air India San Francisco-Delhi flight made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia after the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route, the airline said in a statement.
Passengers from the Air India flight to Delhi via Kolkata were disembarked and given hotel arrangements, an Air India spokesperson said.
In a post on X, the statement said: “AI174 on November 2, 2025, operating from San Francisco to Delhi, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport, Mongolia. With the help of our partners and local authorities, Air India extended immediate assistance to passengers. They were served food on board and were disembarked. After clearing immigration procedures at Air India Airport, they arranged for an alternate stay at the airport. Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen diversion which was made in the interest of safety.”
The plane made an emergency landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after a suspected technical problem, a spokeswoman said on Monday.
