
Air India started paying interim compensation £25 Lakhs to the families of Ahmedabad victims, with three families have so far received payments, the airline said in its statement published on Saturday.
Sum £25 Lakh is in addition to Crore £ 1 or approximately 85,000 GBP compensation, “> £1 CRORE or approximately GBP 85,000 compensation announced by Tata Sons several hours after a deadly accident.
Air India also said that “it addresses those who have been injured, and the families of those who lost their lives on Earth to start the compensation process for them.”
Up to 270 people were killed – including 241 people on board a poorly fatal flight, 29 others on Earth – after the Air India A1171 broke up on Thursday 12th June into Ahmedabad’s BJ Medical College according to News Wire PTI.
Families helped during DNA identification
In its statement, Air India also added that families were assisted in hospital processes, including the identification of DNA victims.
On Saturday, a total of 247 victims were identified through DNA tests, with 232 bodies handed over to relatives, officials said News Wire PTI.
After a devastating accident, many bodies were burned outside recognition or otherwise damaged. As a result, the authorities perform DNA tests to confirm the identity of the victims.
Supervisor Ahmedabad Civil Hospital – where bodies are maintained – Dr. Rrakesh Joshi said that 247 victims identified include 187 Indians, 52 British, seven Portuguese nationals and Canadians.
Of the 187 Indians, there were 175 on board the unfortunate aircraft and belonged to the areas in Gujarate, Rajasthan, Mahari, Diu and Nagaland.
DNA chaos mounts
Since the DNA identification process is still ongoing, it has been asked to submit a sample of the DNA of another relative, because the previous of them failed to agree.
“If there is no match, the bodies cannot be handed over to the relative,” said the medical superintendent of the civilian Rchessh Hospital on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Air India was asked to end three of its employees after a recent failure.

On Saturday, Aviation Watchdog DGCA ordered Tata Group to carry out “internal disciplinary proceedings” against three officials and order them to remove them from all roles and obligations related to the crew and list planning.
