SC bench of two judges allowed AIFF and FSDL to start discussions about MRA And try to find a solution before the next hearing scheduled for 28 August. AIFF issued a statement on Friday, August 22, saying that they would enter the FSDL so that they could submit the solutions before SC for the next hearing.
“Based on proceedings with Hon’ble Supreme Court in India this afternoon, AIFF is negotiating a good faith with Limited Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) with regard to the main rights agreement that expires on December 8, 2025.”
“The parties will try to come to mutually acceptable measures to enable the early start of the 2025-26 football calendar to be submitted to assess the Supreme Court Hon’ble in India for the next hearing, ie August 28, 2025,” read the AIFF statement. Courtesy: AIFF x
Saga Isl so far
The current problem with the Isl appeared when the FSDL decided Place the upcoming 2025-26 season Given the uncertainty about MRA’s renewal, which noted that at least three teams had suspended their first team operations.
The current MRA between AIFF and FSDL was valid until December this year, until then Isl would be in its third month. AIFF gets Rs. 50 Crore per year under the current MRA conditions.
After the earlier SC Directive, the AIFF was asked not to negotiate the new MRA conditions with the FSDL until the final judgment was passed in the AFF Constitution. New development means that the beginning of Isl will be a quick solution.
