The All India (AIFF) Football Federation is ready to make a formal decision on the future of the head coach of the national team Manolo Marquez at its meeting of the Executive Committee on June 29. President AIFF Kalyan Chaubey confirmed the date during the press interaction 13 June, because the questions continued to whirl around the Spanish short and underestimating point with the blue tigers.
Marquez was appointed in June 2024 as a dual coach in FC Goa and was considered a tactical upgrade with a calm and measured approach. But gambling still has to pay off. Since Igor Stimuc was replaced by Marquez, he has supervised eight matches – six friends and two competing accessories – he managed only one victory against the Maldives in March. His record stands on one victory, four draws and three defeats, while India has tasted victory in a competitive match under his leadership.
“Manolo Marquez is a highly rated coach and has a good understanding of Indian football and players. However, in the last few days, I have received several calls whether the coach will continue or not.
Recent failures in AFC Asian Cup-Poráž 0-1 in Hong Kong and a blank draw with Bangladesh-intensivious pressure, which caused extensive challenges to change coaching.
Critics say the nature of Marquez’s appointment part -time has hampered the continuity and progress of the team. With limited time to integrate the player, tactical development and team chemistry, India looked unrelated and uninspired.
When the meeting of June 29 is approaching, all eyes will be on the AIFF to see if they stick to the Marquez project or choose to reset long -term stability.
