All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) general secretary Mariam Dhawale on Monday said there is a growing awareness among women across the country that the BJP-led central government’s policies are anti-people and damaging to women’s rights.
Addressing a press conference at the RTC Kalyana Mandapam here, she expressed grave concern over the situation in Manipur and alleged that hatred continues to be fueled between communities to allow natural resources to be handed over to corporate interests. She claimed that not a single person had been punished in the state for incidents of violence and sexual assault on women and said that even after the change of chief minister under pressure, no concrete steps were taken to restore peace.
Mariam Dhawale said that the 14th AIDWA National Conference held detailed discussions on national and international political developments. The AIDWA general secretary also criticized the introduction of direct cash transfers instead of rations in Puducherry, saying the move was affecting food security. She demanded immediate withdrawal of the policy and reinstatement of ration. She thanked various people’s organizations for their support in ensuring the success of the AIDWA General Assembly.
Speaking on the occasion, AIDWA leader PK Sreemathi said that resolutions were passed against imperialism and condemning the attacks of US President Donald Trump while expressing solidarity with Palestine and Venezuela.
