All India Democratic Students (AIDSO), Mysuru District Committee, condemned the Karnataka decision (Kea) to impose a fee of 750 GBP for all students – regardless of their category – for registration during the advisory process for engineering and other professional courses.
In his statement, Nithin, the district secretary of Aidso, called the decision to be “arbitrary, unfair and deeply condemnable”. It stressed that students already paid fees for investigation and registration and storage of another 750 in the option to enter the option during the initial phase of the adoption process.
“With more than 4 students who participate in this process, Kea will generate stunning revenues of over 300 GBP Crore only with this fee. What is the real purpose of this fee? Is it really intended for any administrative necessity, or is it just a way of gathering money from students and their families?” The statement was questioned.
Aidso stressed that Kea, as a state government body, should facilitate education instead of profiting from it. “At a time when university education is increasingly inaccessible to students from an economically weaker environment, such policies only worsen the situation and increase financial pressure on aspiring youth,” she said.
The organization demanded an immediate withdrawal of the entry fee of 750 GBP and referred to all students, parents and citizens to increase their votes against this “unjust storage” to the protection of available and fair access to education.
