Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Aiden Markram suffered the worst of his IPL career as the explosive Punjab Kings (PBKS) duo of Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly bowled him out for a staggering 32 runs in the 13th over of their high-voltage IPL 2026 clash. The monster match not only became the costliest LSG player in history but also proved to be the costliest so far in the ongoing season.
An impressive master class unfolds
The carnage began when Aiden Markram entered the game with PBKS in full attack mode. Cooper Connolly set the tone straight away, driving a flatter delivery cleanly from outside off-stump over cover for a six. Markram tried to adjust his length but nothing worked against the rampaging batsmen.
Connolly followed that up by dragging a short ball over long-on, despite being rushed at it, and sent it deep into the stands. Another attempted yorker missed its mark and turned into a juicy ball that Connolly smashed straight to the screen. The over also included a wide and poorly timed single to deep backward square leg.
Priyansh Arya then joined the attack with two thunderous sixes of his own. One came from a delivery on the pads that sailed comfortably over deep mid-wicket while the last ball was again sent to the screen. At the non-striker’s end, Shreyas Iyer stood up and tapped the bat with his glove in pure admiration for the monster hit on display.

Records broken in style
Aiden Markram’s 32 runs comfortably surpassed LSG’s previous record of 27 runs conceded by Ravi Bishnoi against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Eliminator 2022 in Kolkata. He is also the most expensive over bowler in IPL 2026 so far, highlighting the fearless brand of T20 cricket we are witnessing this season.
Both Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly looked completely in the zone and took every delivery as an opportunity to score. Their clean hitting and ability to punish even good length balls gave the LSG bowling unit a shock on the batting friendly Mullanpur pitch.
Impact on the match
For the Punjab Kings, this explosive over pressure brought a massive boost to their innings at a crucial stage. An aggressive approach helped them maintain a high scoring rate and put Lucknow Super Giants under immediate pressure.
PBKS posted 254/7 after 20 overs, posting the second highest total by a franchise in IPL history.
