AIADMK submits representation to Governor seeking action against ministers for alleged ‘horse-trading’ of their MLAs

The AIADMK submitted a representation to Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at the Lok Bhavan on Thursday, alleging that the ruling TVK was trying to sideline its MLAs. The party demanded action against some ministers who alleged they were involved in “horse-trading” of legislators.

A representation on behalf of AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami was submitted to the Governor by party MLA Agri SS Krishnamoorthy.

He told reporters that the representation also includes media reports about the minister publicly declaring that about 15 AIADMK functionaries are ready to join the TVK.

Mr. Krishnamoorthy said the AIADMK had earlier also flagged attempts to “horse-trade” with the Governor as well as senior Election Commission of India officials seeking legal action against the six MLAs who had resigned under the anti-designation law, but no action had been taken against the pleas since then.

“We have also withdrawn our earlier representation. We have now sought action against ministers who are openly declaring that AIADMK functionaries will soon join TVK,” he said.

According to him, the governor was also informed that “artificial electricity shortage” is being created deliberately to justify the purchase of electricity from private players at exorbitant costs.

When asked about some dissident AIADMK MLAs making public their displeasure with the party leadership and the recent statement by AIADMK MLA C.Ve. Shanmugam, Mr. Krishnamoorthy claimed that there is no problem in the party. If anyone wanted to say something, if they expressed their feelings with the party general secretary, Mr. Palaniswami would address them, he said.
