The All Indian Drama Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), on Tuesday (Nov 25, 2025), brushed aside the December 15 deadline set by rebel leader and workers’ rights coordinator admk O. Paneselvam for reconciliation.
The date assumed significance in light of the AIADMK’s decision to hold a general council meeting in Chennai on 10
RB Udhayakumar, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and Amma Peravai State Secretary, told his party’s Hindu General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami very clearly expressed the AIADMK’s line of thinking why Panneerselvam cannot be taken back. “Nothing to add,” joked Mr. Udhayakumar.
At a meeting of his supporters in Chennai on Monday (November 24) evening, Mr Panneerselvam warned Mr Palaniswami to “mend your ways or you will be fixed”.
A. Subburathinam, Palani’s former MLA and secretary of the electoral wing of the committee led by Mr. Panneerselvam, emphasized that his group should and will be part of a “winning combination”. He recalled that in 1991 Su. Thirunavukkarasar, who left the AIADMK to run his own body – the Puratchi Thalaivar Tamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam (APTTMK), struck an electoral pact with the DMK; she contested nine assembly constituencies and won two amid the fallout of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, which tipped the scales significantly in favor of the AIADMK-Congress alliance. While Mr. Subburathinam did not specifically say what he meant by “winning combination”, it was clear that he was referring to the DMK-led front.
Sengottaiyan to join TVK?
Political circles are also buzzing with talk of expelled senior AIADMK leader and former education minister KA Sengottaiyan along with his followers likely to soon join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a party led by actor Vijay. Mr. Sengottaiyan, who is also the Gobichettipalayam MLA, was not available for comment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Palaniswami has planned to visit Gobichettipalayam, the ousted leader’s hometown, on November 30 to address a public meeting there. This will be Mr. Palaniswami’s first visit after his action against Mr. Sengottaiyan.
