AI summit shirt protest: Court reserves decision on Delhi Police plea to remand arrested IYC workers | Today’s news

February 21, 2026

A Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order on a police request for a five-day remand for four Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers who were arrested a day earlier for protesting at the AI Impact Summit.

The arrested IYC workers were produced before Judicial Magistrate Ravi, who reserved the order after concluding arguments.

The arrested protesters were Krishna Hari, national secretary of the Bihar Youth Congress; Kundan Yadav, IYC State Secretary, Bihar; Ajay Kumar, IYC State President, Uttar Pradesh; and Narasimha Yadav from Telangana.

The Delhi Police sought a five-day remand for the arrested protesters, arguing that they were raising anti-national slogans and wearing T-shirts with inappropriate pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The counsel for the accused argued that they were associated with a political party and had exercised their democratic right to peacefully protest at the Bharat Mandapam.

He said there was no footage to prove they attacked the police, nor evidence that anti-national speech had taken place.

The court is expected to issue its decision soon.
