Microsoft Techie was reportedly released because of artificial intelligence, requested a viral reddit post, warned of the future in which AI would claim more jobs than ever.
Redditor said his friend in Microsoft was released because the technical giant decided to take the “Ai-First” approach at work. “The impact of AI now feels much more realistic,” he joked.
A social media user shared the story of his friend and said Microsoft Techie was released after five years “completely out of blue”.
“No warnings, an invitation to a cold calendar. His whole team has been told that they are moving towards” AI-FIRST “and most of the common devs are out,” the user said.
Redditor shared that the burned team was replaced by a smaller AI pod because Microsoft pushes most encoding on automated tools.
“He is sincerely shocked and angry, because all the talk about” AI creating new jobs “now feels like a joke,” he said.
“Someone came into it or saw how real new roles open after these releases?” Redditor asked fellow citizens of social media.
This is how Netizens reacted:
Post viral Reddit ignited the debate, and social media users weighed whether AI is truly responsible for mass layoffs.
While several Netizens claimed that technology companies were watching this new fad because of others, others said they became a scapegoat to let people go.
“Your friend’s team probably got last year when they repaired the break that occurred during the pandemic … AI is only a scapegoat at this point. Honestly, AI is currently exaggerated,” Netizen said.
“It sounds like a team of internal instruments. These teams are usually the first to have reached, in this case the administration of the attempt to experiment with their replacement AI,” added another.
The user said, “AI is just the last apology-these releases are about reducing costs and pleasant shareholders, not about innovation or future work. Watch, they will blame something else in a year.”
“Frankly, it happens when societies are chasing the hype above real value,” he added.
“AI is smart, but not smart enough to replace the whole team,” another user stressed, adding that if it really replaced people, the layoffs would be more selective. “When the whole team is released, it simply means that the industry throws a special weight and becomes slim,” he added.
However, the user said it was “scary” and added, “It’s real. I have heard from a friend that part of the supplier’s team was released on Google Android because they wanted to use more AI.”
