The branch of crime Ahmedabad Police arrested a Syrian gang who gathered money from mosques by representing the Gaza conflict, India reported on Saturday today.
The report also added a crime branch to arrest one gang member identified as Ali Meghat al-Azhar, who was in India on a tourist visa.
Officials said that Al-Azhar and his collaborators received funds from Mosques in Gujarat and claimed that it was for the welfare of war victims in Gaza. Al-Azhar, when he was questioned, admitted that money was actually used to “financing their rich lifestyle,” she added that she quoted the police.
Meanwhile, there are currently three of Al-Azhare’s co-mandrels on the run.
The police even said that all suspects also entered India on tourist visas, which is contrary to the visa rules.
By describing the gang activity as “serious concern” for the country’s internal security, she said “Such activities may be a threat to the country’s internal security”.
The police added that state and central agencies are now investigating the motif for collection of funds and possible use of money.
Meanwhile, officials initiated proceedings on the Blacklist and deported the arrested accused, informed India today.
