Foreign Minister Vikram Misri’s upcoming visit to Nepal was overshadowed on Sunday (May 3, 2026) as Nepal expressed “concerns” to both India and China over the next season’s Kailash Manasarovar Yatra through the Kalapani-Limpiyadhura-Lipulekh region, reiterating that the region is part of Nepal’s sovereign territory.
Responding to Kathmandu’s remarks, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Sunday (3 May 2026) that Nepal’s claims to the Lipulekh Pass were not based on “historical facts”.
