The victim was shot by unidentified attackers while closing the equipment late on Tuesday evening.
Agra police firmly refuted the claims that indicate a common motif for fatal shooting of an employee of the Agra 23 restaurant. The police claimed that the incident was not associated with the religious identity of the victim and warned against strict negotiations against those who spread misinformation that could disrupt the municipal harmony.
The victim, Gulfam (31), was employed in a restaurant near Shilptgram Road in the Tajiganj area. He was shot by unidentified attackers while closing the equipment late on Tuesday evening. Gulfam was rushed to the SN Medical College, where he was declared dead on arrival.
On Wednesday on Wednesday, the police explained that Gulfam’s brother Saif Ali – who suffered injuries in the same incident – confirmed that the attackers were unknown and did not know the names or religion of the victims during the attack
“In the incident within the limits of the TaiGanj police station, the injured Saif Ali categorically said that the attackers were unidentified and did not ask for the name or religion of the victim. Any attempt to orbit or false information on the social media will be addressed strictly,” he read the official statement.
More police teams were created that identified and detained the accused. The incident turned when the Instagram appeared a video that represented two individuals who claimed to belong to the organization called “Khatriya Gau Raksha Dal”. In the video, they reportedly demanded responsibility for the attack and quoted retaliation for the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam.
However, AGRA police officials rejected the claim in the video. “It seems that the video has been created for publicity purposes. There is no organization according to the name ‘khatriya couu Raksha Dal’ Active in Agra,” said the head officer.
The police urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified content related to the case, and warning that they had begun legal steps against those who found that they were spreading rumors.
