Aggrieved farmers lock agricultural market gates due to ‘delay’ in procurement of maize in Karimnagar
Aggrieved by the alleged delay in procurement of rice and maize, a group of aggrieved farmers locked the main gate of the Karimnagar agricultural market on Monday.
Agitated farmers staged a sit-in at the entrance gate of the agricultural market, protesting what they termed apathy by market officials engaged in resolving maize procurement issues.
They entered into a dispute with the relevant staff who blamed “official apathy” for the “excessive delay” in the purchase and harvesting of their maize products.
Some aggrieved farmers said they waited more than two weeks to buy maize in conditions of intense heat.
They demanded that the concerned authorities take immediate steps to ensure the purchase of their unsold maize lying in the agricultural market without “further delay”.
