Earlier this year Bopanna was honored with the Padma ShriIndia’s fourth highest civilian award, recognizing his outstanding contribution to sports. President Droupadi Murmu presented him with the award at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in April 2024 – a moment Bopanna described as “humbling and emotional, a tribute to every Indian sportsperson who never stops believing, regardless of their age”.
