After years of legal battle, the Ministry of Income on Thursday reclaims 12.41 acres of government land in the village of Chinnakkanal under Udumbarchanla taluk in IDUKKI.
According to officials of the Ministry of Income 12 people, including the Indian Communist Party (Marxist) (CPI (M)) Member of the Santhanpar Committee, the Santhanpar VX Albin area interfered with government land and created titles for land. The attached land includes 2.88 acres on both sides of Chinnakkanal-Vilak-70 Acre Road affected by seven people and 9.53 acres near the Chinnakkanal-Suryanelli road, which five people intervened.
According to the Ministry of Income, a group of people intervened in the income land in the period 2006. They intervened on Earth assigned by Hindustan Newsprints LTD (HNL) in the village of Chinnakkanal.
Mr. Albin claimed that he had bought 2,80 hectares from a woman named Anthoniammal, while another person Siby Thomas required ownership of 3.25 acres on the basis of the title list held by Marcos Isahac. The duo turned to the Kraly High Court and ordered the court to take the next steps. On the basis of the Directive, the Idukki Collector in April 2007 ordered the ownership of Mr. Thomas and Mr. Albin.
But the divisional forest officer Munnar (DFO) raised doubts about land ownership and filed a complaint in front of the collector. Udumbarchanchaola Tahsildar then carried out a detailed probe and revealed the mismatch between the numbers of the original land survey and the county countries. The revenue department then started steps to obtain land, but Encroachers turned to the Supreme Court again. In September 2024, the High Court dismissed the petition filed by Mr. Albin and others and ordered the collector to evict the interference from government land.
Udumbarchanchaola Tahsildar (Land Records) Sreeramakrishnan SG said that the revenue department regenerated government land after years of legal battle. “After the process of eviction, officials said officials officer Chinnakkanal the Government Council in this area,” the official said.
However, Mr. Albin claimed that he had purchased a land that was now regenerated by the Ministry of Income and filed a complaint in front of the Ministry.
