
The traffic was blocked for more than two hours along Theppakada on Masinagudi Road in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) on Tuesday after the older male elephant died in the middle of the road and Tuesday morning.
Employees of the forest department, who found the car car car car cakes at the beginning of Tuesday morning, re -redirected traffic to Udhagamandalam through Gudalur before being ordered to find the cause of death.
When the elephant was found dead in the middle of the road, there were concerns that it could suffer injury due to intervention in the vehicle. However, forest officials who carried out a preliminary investigation of the animal’s death have stated that there were no external injuries except for superficial wounds on the feet of the animal.
P. ARUNKUMKUAR, Deputy Director of MTR (Buffer Zone), said that after completion of postmort, it was confirmed that the elephant, which is expected to be more than 50 years old, died of natural causes. “The wounds on the leg could be maintained when the animal fell because of its weak state,” said Mr. Aruasonkar, adding that the carcass bodies would be left for the gadgets as except for his advanced years and general weaknesses, the animal showed no other signs of illness.
