The Union’s government has issued 538,39 GBP Crore under the Samagra SHIKIKSHA ABHIYAN (SSA) component of the Supreme Court. Funds include a share of 362 Crore for 2024-25 and 175.59 Crore as the first installment for 2025-26. The remaining CRORE 175.59 GBP in 2025-26 will be released as the second installment later.
In view of this, the Ministry of School Education Tamil Nadu announced on Thursday (October 2, 2025) that the state will start the adoption of RTE 9 October for the current academic year. Schools across Tamil Nadu will be reopen 6th October after quarterly holidays.
According to the RTE law, 25% of the seats in the basic level classes, including LKG and class 1, in private schools, must be reserved for students from marginalized parts of the company. Given that the center did not pay funds within the SSA, the state was not able to initiate the admission process.
According to Chandry Mohan B., Secretary of School Education, Tamil Nadu, the admission procedure in this category for the current academic year will be carried out among children who are already registered in the classroom classes. The data will be filled in to the school head after identifying and receiving the written permit of the parents to request the acceptance of the RTE.
The return will be carried out through the online process through the official RTE portal. It was scheduled for a 10 -day window for adopting online for regulating eligible children who have already been accepted within the RTE quota, added Mr. Chandra Mohan.
Furthermore, any fee that has already been from the student must be returned to seven working days, confirming from school and parents, ministries of managed schools.
Madras hc direction
At the beginning of this year, the Madras High Court ordered the Union’s government to consider delinking RTE reimbursement from the Samagra Shiksha system. Then the state government filed a special holiday (SLP) before the Supreme Court and sought a binding direction of the Union government to release its share of funds.
The Supreme Court issued a notice after which the funds were issued.
Usually admission according to the law RTE usually starts until mid -April and applications are submitted to the online portal of the state government. Adoption of schools ends until May.
In order to supervise the process, a monitoring committee at the level of the district, led by the Chief Educational Director, has been established in each district. Schools will record the total number of seats contained in the classroom from 30 September to 7 October to the 14th October. The final list of eligible candidates will appear on the school notice board.

Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in post X said: “As a result of the High Court and the Supreme Court, we received our due #RTE funds as a result of the arguments that we submitted against the Union’s government, which works on blocking the law to compulsory education – 2009, under the @MKstalin Act.”
Therefore, the procedures of admission of students for the academic year 2025-2026 start in accordance with the law on compulsory education, he added.
