BJP ruled out two rebels and former ministers-ST Somaskekar and Arabail Shivaram Hebbar-Party for six years in order to indulge in anti-party activity. The action against them was long awaited.
These Mil, who were among those who came from Congress to BJP in 2019 through Lotus Operation, received a ministerial berth in the cabinet of the then main Minister BS Yediyuppy. They also continued as ministers when Basvaraj Bommai followed Mr. Yediyupp as the main minister.
Since 2023
However, since 2023, when BJP lost power, they began to identify themselves with Congress. Both of them were embarrassed by BJP several times against the official candidates of the party in the elections to the Council and Rajya Sabha. They also participated in the meeting of the legislative parties of the congress and refused to mount the BJP line in the assembly by not participating in protests against the ruling congress.
Mr. Somaskekar even criticized the leadership of BJP publicly and prevented his proximity to the main Minister Siddaramaiah and representative of the main Minister DK Shivakumar and said that it is necessary to obtain development grants for his constituency.
The excluded rebel leader Basanagoud Pedil R. Yatnal took an exception to the BJP he acted against him while ignoring the two legislators.
Subsequently, the Central Disciplinary Committee for the Party issued them a notice of premises and both answered them.
Finally, the Central Disciplinary Committee for the Party excluded them for six years with effect from Tuesday. While Mr. Somaskekar represents YESHWANTHPUR in Bengalur in the legislative assembly, Mr. Hebbar was elected from Yellapur in the Uttara Kannada district.
Before public opinion surveys
Initially, BJP tolerated their rebellion, because there was an opinion that exclusion would give them greater freedom of legislators and that the technically numerical power of the party would decrease. However, he learns that BJP wanted to act strictly in order to strengthen the party as the election to local organs, such as Zilla/Taluk Panchayats and Greater Bengalur, is expected soon.
President of the BJP State Unit Vijayendra told a press conference in Bengalur that the appeal to the highest command to initiate disciplinary proceedings against them was made. These two Mla got enough time to remedy their behavior, he said.
Only expected
Meanwhile, Mr. Somaskekar told media people that the exclusion was expected. He claimed that the two selectively became sacrificial rats in the party, wondering why BJP did not act against those who were accused of rape, and obliquely referred to the accusation against the MLU Muniherni.
Mr. Hebbar said he welcomed the event, but decided not to reveal his future plans by telling media people to wait and see. Mr. Somaskekar said there was a lot of time before the next elections and later called his political step.
Mr. Yediyuppa welcomed the action and said that no one was above the party and that everyone should follow the party’s discipline.
