If it is in the legal process for 35 long years, the Karnatak High Court confirmed the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) at the release of the driver after serving for 17 years, to present a memorable school certificate at the time of his work in 1988.
Marulappa, who is now at the age of 61, was named in September 1988 as a driver.
In 1990, BMTC launched an investigation against him as an alleged submission of a counterfeit certificate of school transfer to claim that he studied up to class 9, although he only studied in class 1. The minimum qualifications that would ask for the position of the driver was completing school hours to class 4.
Decade long inquiry
However, the investigation took in ten years and was only completed in 2002 and was terminated from the service in 2005. He caused a dispute before the work court that lasted 11 years to make this problem and presented the award in 2016
In 2017, BMTC filed a petition before the High Court, which challenged the Labor Court. In February 2024, the Supreme Court’s bench postponed the work court and confirmed the BMTC action to terminate it. Then Marulappa appealed in front of the division’s bench against the order of a single judge.
It’s not disproportionately harsh
The divisional bench composed of the main judge of Vibhu Bakhr and the Justice CM Joshi, in his 25 July 2025, confirmed the BMTC’s Action and at the same time stated the nature of the accusation of ensuring an employment for which it was unfit, and BMTC has terminated it from this service.
