The special cell of the Jammu and the Kashmiro Police, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), carried out air raids in eight places in Srinagar on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) to explore the killing of the 27 -year -old woman of Kashmir Pandit in 1990.
SIA spokesman said that “exhaustive search has started in eight places in Srinagar as part of his ongoing investigation of the case”.
“This strategic search, which was carried out in eight places throughout Srinagar, has led to some accusing evidence to help reveal the entire terrorist conspiracy with the ultimate goal of providing justice to the victim and her family,” Sia said.
The case concerns the killing of Kashmir Pandit Sarla Bhat, nurses in Skims Soura, who was brutally killed by a terrorist 36 years ago.
SIA took over the case registered on the basis of Firk No. 56/1990 at the Nigeen Police Station, Srinagar. However, there was no mention of the rape of the nurse in the police statement.

Officials said that Bhat, a nurse from Anantnag South Kashmir, was kidnapped on April 18, 1990 from Habba Khatoon of Skims Soura. The victim’s body with a bullet was later seen in Umar Colony Mallabagag, Soura, the next day.
The raids were carried out on residents of the forbidden FRONT FRONT (JAMMU and Kashmir (JKLF), including its main Yasin Malik and former Javeed Mir. Those whose houses were attacked were also Peer Noor Ul Haq Shah, Reyaz Kabir Sheikh, Bashir Ahmad Gojri, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Kaiser Ahmad Tiploo and Ghulam Mohammad Taploo.
The killing of Sarly Bhat was one of the first few cases of murder that resulted in the migration of Kashmir pandits from the valley. September 14, 1989, Pandit Tika Lal Taplio, attorney and leader of the BJP leader; And later a former judge, Pandit Neelkanth Ganjoo, was killed by militants.
