On Tuesday (April 1, 2025), the Center was imposed for six months in the Nagaland Meluri district, two days after the law was expanded to eight districts and 21 areas of the police station in five other state districts.
In the announcement, the Ministry of the Interior of the Union stated in November 2024, the government Nagaland created the district of Meluri by carving it from the PHEK district, which was declared a “disturbed area” along with seven other districts.
“In the partial regulation of the notification number, thus 1536 (e) of 30 March 2025, the Meluri district is also declared a” disturbed area “under Section 3 of the Armed Forces Act (special powers) of 1958 (28 of 1958) for 6 months with influence from 1 April 2025.”

AfSPA, often criticized as a draconian law, gives armed forces acting in disturbed areas of sweeping powers to seek, arrest and open fire if they consider it necessary.
The special law was on Sunday (March 30, 2025) extended by six months throughout the manipur, with the exception of the jurisdiction of 13 police stations, with regard to the situation of the law and order.
It was also expanded to districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding in Arnacal Pradesh and three areas of police stations in the Namai district in the state for six months, starting on April 1 after the law and the order of the situation in these northeast states.
