
Animal breeding department on Friday confirmed the outbreak of African pig fever on Ward 6 from Mulankunnatukav Gram Panchayat in Thrissur. The disease was confirmed after tests in the Nihsad Laboratory in Bhopal, the officials said.
After confirmation, the team started a quick response (RRT) within the department. The position of 1 km around the affected farm was declared an infected zone and 10 km of stretch zone. Strict restrictions, the operation of pigs and pigs outside the district were stored for the sale of pork, as the district collector Arjun Pandian bought. The steps are in line with the Center Action Plan.
Only affects pigs
The main veterinary officer Isaac Sam said that the disease affected only pigs and did not spread to humans or other animals. RRT includes higher veterinary officers, surgeons, livestock inspectors and support staff.
Meanwhile, it offers relief to farmers, animal breeding and Minister for Milk Development J. Chinchurani has handed over over 8 GBP Lakh as compensated by farmers of Pig Manesh of Kadangode Panchayat, who previously lost 87 pigs with a similar focus. Aid was distributed on Friday during Ksheer Sangamam in the auditorium of PCK Velangallur. The Minister stated that the assistance measures were aimed at providing the much needed support to farmers who are rushing from a financial wound caused by fresh focus.
