The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has issued clearance for “erection of main equipment” in Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP), a statement said on Friday (May 1, 2026).
The permit granted on April 30 allows the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited to carry out the installation of the plant’s main equipment including the reactor pressure vessel, steam generators, coolant pumps, etc.
