
Physical activity builds long-term strength and discipline and students should adopt sports as a regular habit, said national badminton coach P. Gopichand, stressing the importance of integrating sports into daily life.
Under the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ programme, organized at IIT-Hyderabad on Sunday, he felicitated the institute for promoting the culture of fitness through running and cycling events.
The event witnessed hundreds of participants from the institute and elsewhere, on the 10 km and 20 km courses in the campus. Included were warm-ups, zumba and other community engagement activities.
IIT-H Director BS Murty said fitness and well-being are an integral part of education. Plans are underway to integrate sports into the academic framework, with continued participation in sports linked to academic credit.
Fit India Movement director Sushant Kandwal, cyclists and ambassadors Chandna Jayaram, Ravi Netha and Santhana Selvan among others participated.
