The Gautam Adani-led Adani Group, which operates eight airports across India, has opened its own airport at Mundra for scheduled commercial flights to 4 destinations operated under a regional connectivity scheme.
Star Air, owned by Kolhapur-based Sanjay Ghodawat Group, on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) started flights from Adani Mundra Airport carrying passengers to and from the port city of Mundra.
Mumbai, Goa, Surat and Hindon (Delhi NCR) are among the 4 destinations that are now available for scheduled flights with Mundra.
In addition to last-mile connectivity, direct flights will create an express corridor that will reduce travel time for trade, commerce, logistics and tourism.
Mundra thus becomes the 9th airport of the Adani Group and the site is set to become a fully integrated, multi-modal logistics and business hub.
Extensive cargo operations are planned from this airport to connect producers and farmers from this region to the world.
“Discussions are on. Local farmers and other manufacturers are demanding airlift of consignments from Mundra,” said Rakshit Shah, Managing Director, Adani Ports & SEZ.
He said this airport will create a strong synergy between the group’s port and aviation operations.
Mundra Airport has a 1900 meter long runway capable of handling a wide range of passenger and cargo aircraft.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airports Ltd. said that many people of Mundra are excited about the regular air service. “We want to be a part of the aviation economy significantly. We plan to invest ₹90,000 to ₹1,00,000 in all airports over the next 5 years,” he said.
For starters, he said the demand for the flights will be from stakeholders, employees and local residents who have created significant wealth. It will also be beneficial for them. Moreover, tourists coming to Mandvi beach will also use it,” he said.
Since Bhuj airport, which is a defense airport, has basic connectivity, the Adanis want to build from there.
