Because of this, the team gave him another rest before the start of the IPL.Jayawardene explained that Bumrah had slowly rebuilt his rhythm in the first few matches, which affected his pace and sharpness. Even though he only managed four goals in 13 games, opposition teams still played cautiously against him. The coach said Bumrah worked hard on his fitness, off-balls and load management during the tournament.Despite a difficult season, Jayawardene believes Bumrah is now close to his best again. He said the pacer has regained his speed, yorkers and confidence in the last few matches. Lauding Bumrah’s attitude, the coach said the bowler always remained positive and focused on improving. Jayawardene concluded that there were no major concerns about Bumrah and expected him to “come back strong”.
