Actor Kunal Kapoor shares two good news of the week; it features his cook and car cleaner: “People are tireless” | Today’s news

February 20, 2026

A simple social media post by Kunal Kapoor sparked an unexpectedly hopeful conversation about India. Sharing two small but telling moments from his week, the actor-entrepreneur captured the quiet resilience and ambition happening across the country.

In a post on X, Kapoor talked about two moments from his week that he described as “good news” — not for personal gain, but because they reflected the aspirations and upward mobility of those around him.

“I’ve had two good pieces of news this week,” Kapoor wrote, before explaining how the man who cleans his car approached him about a loan and how his longtime domestic help mentioned she might leave next year.

Kapoor then explained why both cases gave him hope.

According to the actor, the car cleaner needed the loan because his son – an engineer – secured a job in Europe. Kapoor admitted that he was surprised by the news, adding that the reaction made him question his own assumptions rather than the young man’s success.

The second case involved the family of his assistant. Kapoor shared that her husband started a food stand that did so well that they planned to hire staff and expand. If all goes according to plan, the couple hoped to start a cloud kitchen together next year.

“How can you not be bullish in a country like this?” Kapoor wrote and summarized his thoughts.

He went on to acknowledge the frustration many Indians feel with governance and systems, but emphasized that the real story of the country lies elsewhere.

“Government can fail us. Systems can frustrate us. But people? People are relentless. Aspirational. Building quietly,” he said, adding that India’s future will not be shaped by ministries alone, but by “millions of these small, relentless cycles of modernization.”

Several users also shared similar experiences from their own lives. One person wrote about their helper’s daughter who scored 94% in her class 10 exams and went on to study computer science. The same user mentioned another young woman whose father struggled with alcoholism now works at the Bank of New York. “Proud of them both,” the user wrote, applauding their determination.

Kapoor, who has balanced his film career with business, is also the co-founder of Ketto, one of Asia’s largest crowdfunding platforms.

On the acting front, he has appeared in films like Rang De Basanti, Aaja Nachle, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and the series The Empire. But this time, it wasn’t a film role that grabbed attention – just a quiet observation that resonated deeply with many Indians.
