An accused in a major drug trafficking case, who was on the run for two years, was arrested by the Nedumbassery police from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.

Ragesh, 32, of Thalappilla, Thrissur, was absconding since the seizure of 316 grams of suspected MDMA and 420 grams of suspected ganja from a car in Athani in June 2024, according to police.

The contraband was transported from Bengaluru. Two youths – Azad (38) from Aluva and Harikrishnan (28) from Malappuram – were arrested earlier.

Ragesh, who allegedly provided financial assistance to buy narcotics, fled to Kullu on learning of the arrest and worked as a tourist guide there. An investigation team led by District Superintendent of Police (Ernakulam Rural) KS Sudarshan tracked him down.

The accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
