The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a supervisor working in the office of the Joint Director of Labor Accounts in Karimnagar for allegedly accepting bribes of ₹14.77 crore over two years from employees and suppliers through online transactions.
The accused officer has been identified as 50-year-old Egala Madhusudhan, a superintendent in the office of the Joint Director of Labor Accounts in Karimnagar.
According to the ACB, Madhusudhan allegedly demanded and accepted illegal gratification from employees and suppliers through UPI transactions in return for showing official favors, including concealment or correction of discrepancies in files pending review and approval.
Investigators said the police officer used a bank account in another person’s name at the Bhadaradri Cooperative Urban Bank to receive the money. During verification, ACB officials found that between September 15, 2022 and September 20, 2023, ₹14,77,003 was transferred into the account.
Officials said the accused was taken into custody on March 16 and will be produced before a special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar. The ACB has urged the public to report cases of bribery by civil servants through its toll-free helpline 1064. Further investigations are underway.
