Access to Suryalanka beach will be restricted during IAF training from December 1 to 24

The Indian Air Force will conduct an operational training program for its ground-guided weapons (SAGW) units at Suryalanka Air Force Station in Bapatla district from December 1 to 24, which will restrict public access to designated coastal areas during the corresponding period.

The government on Wednesday issued a notification under Section 3A of the Seaward Artillery Practice Act 1949 declaring certain areas adjacent to the air force station as danger zones during planned activities.

The training will take place in two phases, from December 1 to 11 and from December 12 to 24. Activities will take place between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. in both phases.

As part of the exercise, areas extending 100 km into the sea in a radial sector of 110 degrees from the firing positions were designated as dangerous. An area in a 200-degree radial sector that extends from ground level to an unlimited height has also been declared unsafe.

Authorities have been directed to issue necessary warnings and prevent people from entering designated zones during specified hours.

The government advised the public to remain cautious around the ranges, strictly follow safety guidelines and cooperate with authorities throughout the training program.
