The Anti-Corruption Bureau has conducted a surprise raid at the office of the District Civil Supplies Office at the Integrated Collectorate in Kamareddy and found serious lapses related to widespread outages in rice milling, causing heavy losses to the state exchequer.
According to information shared by the department, the raid was conducted on January 24 around 12.15 pm at the office of the District Manager, Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, Kamareddy. Officials found repeated failures to crack down on rice mill defaulters over several kharif seasons, despite significant shortfalls in own milled rice.
During the 2021–22 kharif season, 39 rice mills defaulted, with action initiated against only two, resulting in a shortfall of 581 metric tonnes worth ₹64 crore. In the 2022–23 kharif season, 37 millers defaulted, again action was taken against only two, resulting in a deficit of 19,529 metric tonnes at ₹41 crore. In the 2023–24 kharif season, seven millers defaulted and action was taken against three, but a shortfall of 5,194 metric tonnes worth ₹2.5 million was still recorded.
The ACB further noted that Green Hills Agro Industries, which did not pay for its milled rice in 2023-24 and against which a criminal case was registered, continued to receive rations. Despite the ongoing case, officials allocated the 2024-25 kharif and rabi revenues to the same miller.
The investigation also revealed that since September 2025, neither the District Civil Supply Officer nor the District Director of the Civil Supply Company in Kamareddy was conducting inspections of MLS sites and rice mills. One data entry operator attached to the District Civil Supplies Office was found to be involved in suspicious transactions and was investigated.
The ACB said that despite repeated and substantial lapses, the District Civil Supply Officer, District Director and Deputy Tahsildars in Kamareddy failed to take timely action against rice mill defaulters, resulting in heavy financial loss to the state.
A detailed report will be submitted to the government recommending appropriate action against the officials concerned. The ACB reiterated its appeal to the public to report any demand for bribes by civil servants on the toll-free number 1064, thereby ensuring the confidentiality of complainants.
