The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday (November 5) organized simultaneous surprise checks at 12 Sub-Registration Offices (SROs) spread across the state. Officials found unaccounted cash at some SROs and it was seized for verification.
According to an official ACB statement, surprise checks were conducted at SROs at Jagadamba Centre, Pedagantyada and Madhurawada of Visakhapatnam, Bhogapuram of Vizianagaram, Ibrahimpatnam of NTR, Narasaraopeta of Palnadu, Ongole of Prakasam, Stone House of Rajtoa Nellore, Re. Chilamattoor of Anantapur and Allagadda of Nandyal districts regarding the allegations. and petitions received in the ACB.
“During searches, an undisclosed amount was found at Bhogapuram, Jagadamba Centre, Ibrahimpatnam, Ongole, Nellore, Narasaraopet SRO and the amount ranged from ₹ 10,000 to ₹ 75,000. The source and ownership of the amounts is being verified,” the report said.
Further, various records, documents related to any registration, violation of registration, documents pending registration, registered documents not issued to parties, registration of prohibited properties, out-of-court records of stamp paper sales and relevant records maintained in the above mentioned SROs are being thoroughly verified, the report said, adding that searches are underway.
Officials said the exact amount seized and action taken against any government official can be revealed only after the verification process is complete.
