AC Milan Ready to Sell Theo Hernandez if Contract Talks Stall
Geoffrey Moncada, AC Milan’s director, has confirmed that the club is prepared to sell Theo Hernandez this summer if an agreement on a contract extension cannot be reached.
Theo, who has entered the final 18 months of his current deal, has seen negotiations for a renewal come to a halt, with both sides reportedly far apart on financial terms.
In January, Serie A newcomers Como offered approximately €40 million for the left-back, and Milan were willing to accept the bid. However, the 27-year-old chose to stay and see out the season with Rossoneri.
If Theo fails to sign a new contract before the summer, he will once again be open to a transfer.
"It’s crucial to manage our players effectively—we can’t afford to lose them on a free transfer," Moncada stated. “This applies to Theo as well as [Mike] Maignan.”
Theo has been regarded as one of the world’s top left-backs in recent years, and his potential availability has sparked interest from several elite clubs. Manchester City are among his admirers, while Real Madrid are rumored to enter the race for his signature if they fail to secure Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.
The French international spent two years at Real Madrid from 2017 to 2019 after a £23 million move from Atletico Madrid. However, he was primarily used in a reserve role during his debut season and was eventually sold to Milan following a loan spell with Real Sociedad.
