Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP) made a meeting on Tuesday to create awareness of drug abuse.
It urged the district police of Mysur to take strict legal steps to reduce illegal production, sales and use of narcotic drugs in the city and surrounding areas. Hundreds of ABVP activists gathered near Circle House House Circle and transported labels that report “say not drugs” and sought to implement the Cotp Act.
In the Memorandum for the Police Superintendent, Secretary of ABVP HK Poeen, he expressed concern about the recent bust of large -scale drug production units and called it serious awakening.
Mr. Poen said that synthetic production and drug consumption spread from cities to rural areas, capture thousands of youth and make them addicted.
At a time when the youth must be involved in the task of building a nation, as supposed to swami Vivecananda, ABVP was dealt with by drug abuse, which, according to ABVP, disperses their energy and talent.
ABVP, which quoted data from recent police operations, noted that in just four days it was found that 189 out of 541 individuals were drug users, underlining the extent of the problem among young people.
The memorandum also emphasized the harmful effects of drug abuse on students, women and society in general, including an academic decline, behavioral problems, accidents, crime and serious health consequences.
The student body demanded strict enforcement of the Act on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDP) and Cigarettes and other tobacco products (COTPA), increased intelligence and severe punishment, manufacturers and their serving, and undertook to intensify drug campaigns
